How to Plan a Fun Baby Shower

Baby showers are enjoyable gatherings usually composed of 4 main activities : socializing, eating, playing games and the best one of all, opening all those baby presents! Planning a baby shower is the first step.

Lasting about two to three hours, it’s often a good idea for the host to outline a schedule of baby shower activities beforehand so that the speed of the party remains steady.

Planning Details: The beginning of the baby shower is an excellent time for socialization.  Most of the guests will need to greet each other and talk with the mother-to-be to find out the small print of her pregnancy.

Cuisine is always expected at a baby shower and it need not be elaborate.  It’s just got to be prepared ahead of time.  Finger foods are simplest and guests can eat throughout the whole shower, with a special time, usually towards the end, devoted to eating the cake.

One of the activities included in most baby showers is the game time. Baby shower games are fun and there’s no end to the variety of games, either.  Nearly any game can be remodeled to make it applicable for a baby shower.

If the guests are a fun group, plan on playing a variety of several baby games.  Just be sure to decide on the games about 3 weeks prior to the shower so you know what games which will be played because the host will have to make sure she has lots of game pieces and necessary supplies.  And she’ll need to get a prize to award the game winners, too!

Figuring out the circumference of the expectant mother’s belly is a standard game that’s’s played at most baby showers.  A simple game involves filling a baby bottle with jelly beans or q-tips and having each guest make a guess how many the bottle holds.

Other games include baby Bingo, baby tic-tac-toe, pin the dummy on the baby, and so many more.

Should games not seem applicable for the group, for who knows what reason, plan a group project instead.  When the project is finished, it’ll be given to the honored guest as a method to remind her of this big day.

Project ideas include scrapbooking, covering, making a video documentary, or making something similar to a hand-painted floor mat or wall hanging that the pregnant mum can use in her home.

Creating a recommendation book is easy.  Just get a notebook full of blank pages and pass it around to each person.  On another page, each guest writes down a little bit of parenting advice and signs the page.

If men are invited, plan the baby shower as more of get-together, maybe an out of doors BBQ.  The guys can make the food and assemble the baby gifts as they’re opened as the ladies sit back and have fun!

Keeping the Best for Last: Opening the baby gifts is unquestionably the high point of the baby showers (at least from the mother’s point of view).

Be certain one person is in command of writing down a catalogue of the baby gifts and the name of the guest who gave each.  Save the bows, too so that when it’s all over, the guest of honor can be topped with a funny bow hat!

A Reasonable Guide to Equipping Your Baby Room

Baby bedding is an important  part of Nursery and you will want to naturally be careful about the selection. You have to  invest good time in choosing a baby bedding which is soft, smooth and gives your baby  a healthy and cheerful ambiance to sleep, for the range of products is wide. As you begin to decide on how you would like to decorate your baby’s nursery you’ll find that you have a lot to choose from when it comes to furniture as well as crib bedding.

Cribs and linens are available in various price ranges, from the most expensive at upscale department stores to more modest prices at budget retailers. Before using hand-me-down or used baby furniture, it is important to make sure that it meets today’s safety standards.

You will need to try out the furniture to make sure the sides of the crib slide down easily and smoothly. Choose a crib without a side latch as you do not want to wake up your baby after you put him to sleep. Height is important to consider because you will be doing a lot of bending into the crib to reach your baby.

Multiple babies who are very small may be able to share a single crib for a while. Multiples often sleep better when their siblings are close by, as they were throughout pregnancy. Buy another crib when the babies move around and disturb each other while sleeping.

After you have bought the furniture, you would even require the baby bedding. It’s a good idea to buy a waterproof mattress cover should the baby have an accident during the night. Crib sheets and bumpers in bright patterns not only make decorating the nursery more fun, they also provide visual stimulation for the baby. There will be many, many choices available, with thousands of color and pattern combinations on the market. Another option would be the organic route, also known as “green” baby bedding, however, this will be a lot more pricey than a normal baby crib bedding set.

Infants have sensitive skin, therefore you should be washing his or her sheets with baby-safe detergent. Your baby should not have anything in the crib; if it is cold, dress your baby in more layers.
