Learn About Ovulation And Conception

If you are trying for a baby you need to understand the importance of charting you’re your ovulation cycle. There are lots of reasons why you can struggle to conceive, many things can affect your fertility.

Taking the time to understand your ovulation cycle will allow you to accurately pin point your most fertile time during each month. Knowing when you are at your most fertile means you can time your love making to maximise your chances of successful conception, or in other words, make sure your man’s sperm has the best chance of getting to know your egg!

Ok, so how does your ovulation cycle work? Lets discuss the details. On the day you ovulate, your body produces one fertile egg.  That’s right just one egg each month.  So you can see how imperative it is for you to know exactly when your egg will be optimally placed for fertilisation, especially if you have been finding it hard to conceive for a while.

Your ovulation period lasts for six days.It is on the final day of your six day cycle that you actually ovulate, therefore it is the sixth day when you are most fertile.Your day of ovulation will usually be fourteen days before your next period begins.  Therefore if your cycle is usually 28 days, day fourteen should be day the day you ovulate.  Whereas, if you typically have a thirty day cycle, your most fertile day would be day sixteen of your cycle.

Once you have calculated your exact day of ovulation, you can plan around it.  Your man’s sperm can survive in a woman’s body for up to four days, therefore you need to have intercourse as many times as possible in the four days before you ovulate, and on your day of ovulation as his sperm can reach your fallopian tubes in as little as twenty minutes.
