Transform Your Guest Room Into A Nursery

When you get the news that a baby is on the way, you will want to start making preparation. A baby will bring big changes to your family and those changes are easier if you have a plan for a nursery. The most logical choice for many families is to convert a seldom used guest room into a nursery for the little one.

It may not take a lot of work to convert the guest room into a nursery. Some of the furnishings may be useful for the baby. Dressers, some chairs and lamps can sometimes be reused. Everything else will need to be moved out and placed in storage, donated to charity or sold.

After you have cleared out the room, take time to examine the basics. Will the carpets need to be replaced or can they simply be cleaned and vacuumed. What about the walls. Can they be cleaned and used as they are or will you need to paint a fresh color. If there need to be these types of repairs, the easiest time to do them is when the room is empty.

What are some things that will be needed in a nursery?

First you will want to provide your baby with a bed. If you find yourself purchasing a new baby bed, then consider one that will convert to a toddler bed. This allows a growing child to use the same bed and mattress for several years. Before choosing a used bed, be sure that it is sturdy and safe. Rails on the bed must be very close in order to be safe.

A Philips baby monitor will help you to hear and see into the nursery from the convenience of your own room. You will be able to hear the baby before he or she becomes too worked up and crying loudly. This will make for less stress for both the baby and the parents.

Babies tend to need lots of clothes and diapers. The dresser that was in the guest room may work, but home storage cabinets are also a great option. Diapers tend to fit better in the cabinets than in a dresser. As the child grows, the cabinets can be used for toys and other items that the child will need to store.

Since you will no longer have a guest room, you may want to make provisions for overnight guests by purchasing a sleeper sofa or an air bed. Having a new baby almost guarantees that out of town grandparents will want to visit for a sleepover.

The Arrival Of Your Precious Baby Boy

It can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming when you are preparing to bring home your new baby boy. It is important to allow yourself enough time to get everything completed. You should start preparing about a month before your due date or even earlier if possible. This will change your life forever and you will want to make the transition as easy as possible. This is a very exciting time for new parents.

It is really important to have the nursery ready for your baby boy’s arrival. You should choose a baby crib that will provide him with a safe place to sleep. It should have the latest safety features and should be very well made. Cribs range in price and are really very affordable.

It is also a good idea to purchase baby boy bedding that will stimulate his senses. Bright colors will capture his attention and will stimulate his brain. There are many different themes and patterns available and it is sometimes hard to choose a favorite. You may also want to hang a crib mobile that plays music. This can help calm a fussy baby and will help lull him back to sleep.

Diapers are a necessity and you should keep plenty in stock for use because you will definitely use more than you think. Newborns need to be changed quite often and you will use a lot of diapers. You will soon learn which are the best diapers for your little one.

One purchase that is most important is the car seat. You will need to show this at the hospital before you will be allowed to leave with your baby. This is providing safety to your child and should not be taken lightly. It is important to purchase the best seat available and one that has many safety features. It is also important to make sure that you have positioned the seat correctly to ensure safety.

The most important thing to keep in mind when bringing baby home is to enjoy this time. You may have to learn to rely on very little sleep, but he will grow so fast and this time will be a distant memory in no time. Enjoy it while you can and do not sweat the small stuff like house work and laundry. You can always get someone to help you with this.

You will always remember the first time that you brought your baby home and it will be a special day for all. Enjoy this time in your life and enjoy this precious child that you have waited for nine months to meet.

What To Give A Newborn Baby

You will discover that there is a seemingly endless list of things that you have to purchase when it comes to a new baby. If you are someone who is deliberating a gift for an upcoming baby shower, or you are an expectant mother or father wondering where to begin, you can benefit from glancing over this little list of essentials.

You will find that there is no shortage of what other people might consider the most important things to get right away. You will likely determine on your own that all of the below listed items will benefit you to purchase early.

The obvious starting point for this list is a crib. You have to have someplace for your newborn to sleep. This also allows for you to require them to sleep on their own (most of the time) from the day you bring them home from the hospital. You can save a little bit of money by opting to purchase a convertible baby crib, which has several practical functions once they stop needing a crib.

The next thing on the list is a bassinet. This allows you to let the baby take regular naps where you are, rather than always having to take him or her up to the crib each and every time. The best part is, a bassinet is light and portable. This means that it can go where you go with little trouble and by no means has to remain in one place.

A car seat is the next thing on the list because there is no getting around having one of these. You literally cannot come home from the hospital without the okay from a medical professional who has determined that your child is secure in a car seat. So there is no mistaking that these are important. I personally prefer the look and function of a Britax car seat, but some other popular brands are: Graco, Evenflo and Cosco.

The last item on the list is something that will save you some energy in the following weeks after delivery. Likely, it will save you energy longer than this though. A stroller is the item being discussed, and this is important to you because you can push around the child with ease instead of carrying him/her everywhere you go to show them off at. While they might only be between 6-9 lbs, even that can get heavy if you are carrying it for a while. The best stroller that I have used is a Perego stroller.

I can only hope that you have been inspired in your ideas of what to get for the new baby. All of these things are important and can look however you want them to if you look hard enough. There are no shortage of companies that make these products, and they all do them a little differently.
