Is it really possible to determine the gender of a baby before it is conceived with out genetically modifying the embryo? Can you naturally influence Mother Nature’s intentions to give you a little baby boy or girl?Well surprisingly it is possible to influence the odds in your favour if it is the case that you do have a distinct preference as to which sex you would like. I use the word sway because I don’t believe that using natural ways you can ever determine your baby’s sex 100% of the time, but I do believe that you can improve your chances of having your baby of choice.
It was only after we had our second child, a second little boy, that I overheard a conversation between by my wife and her nurse, in which my wife was saying how much she would love to a have a little girl next time (what next time I thought!). The nurse suggested that by carefully timing the conception, we could dramatically improve our chances of having a girl At this point I thought it was just an old wives tale. But as she was a nurse I thought that there may be some credibility to the statement. So I went and did a search on the internet, and low and behold I found similar theories!
So how does the theory go?
In simple terms, a man has two types of sperm that determine the sex of the baby.X chromosome sperm are female and if they fertilise the egg they will make a little girl, whereas the Y chromosome sperm are male. So if you can make sure the Y sperm get to the egg first you’ll have a little boy, or for a little girl you must ensure the X sperm fertilise the egg. Simple really?
But how on earth can you organise which sperm get to the egg first. Well believe it or not, Y sperm swim faster than X sperm, but the X sperm live longer! So that’s why conceiving a boy or a girl comes down to timing. To read more precise information on timing conception based on ovulation cycles, take a look at my predict baby gender site and you can make your own mind up on the theory then.I do believe that the science behind the theory could well hold some truth.
Many people are wondering about baby gender prediction these days since of course scientific intervention has made so many medical related issues much easier to manage and control. The Chinese calendar method of baby gender predictionworked for me! I used it for my child and it said that I was going to have a boy and that is what I had. However,each person is different and some believe in certain things and some do not. It is up to each person as to whether they want to believe or not.
Some think that the way a woman is carrying her child is a good means of baby gender prediction. Many think that boys tend to sit higher in the belly while girls sit lower. This too is not really accurate as often the way a woman’s belly develops during pregnancy is going to be influenced by her own body shape rather than the child’s gender. A woman that is shorter or that has a shorter torso may find that the baby sits lower in the belly simply because there is not much room for it to develop anywhere else. Taller women may find that the baby sits higher simply because it has that much more room. Of course there are many other factors that influence the size and shape of the belly during pregnancy and this too cannot be considered an accurate baby gender prediction method.
The only seemingly real method of baby gender prediction is based on the fact that the sperm containing the Y chromosomes for boys tend to move faster but die quicker than the sperm containing the X chromosome for girls. However the Y chromosome sperm seem to die quicker than the X chromosome sperm. There is a belief in many that if you want to predict the gender of the child you should lie still after intercourse for a boy as this will allow the sperm to reach the egg faster for fertilization. {For a girl you should consider have intercourse a day after ovulation as the Y chromosome sperm may then die off before they reach an egg whereas the longer-lasting X chromosome sperm have a better chance of lasting long enough to reach that egg.}
Remember though that there is no guaranteed method of baby gender prediction. It is not possible even if you take all the techniques and tricks of the world to control what goes on in a woman’s uterus, so you should be prepared for a baby of either gender whatever you may try.
