Essential Product Safety Guidelines For Parents

Being a mother for the first time is understandably difficult, you don’t know what you should be doing, what products to buy, which brands to choose and what to avoid. For your infant, safety is of the highest importance, you must make sure everything you buy and use should be safe for your baby and must have approval from the relevant federal bodies.

For example, when buying baby shoes, check the inside stitching. Check if they are free from loose threads and loops. I have a friend who bought a mitten for her baby. She noticed that her baby was crying within an hour of wearing those mittens. She checked the temperature for fever, checked her clothes for bugs, rubbed oil on her tummy for colic and even fed her medicine for stomach pain.

But her child stopped crying as soon as she removed the mittens. When she did, she saw her baby’s toes were all violet and swollen. What happened was that the baby’s toes got caught in loose loops of the inner stitching which stopped blood circulation and also caused the bruising.

This is exactly why there are safety standards even baby stuff has to comply to make sure that baby is safe wearing or using them. When shopping for baby’s bottles, look for bottles that are BPA-free. BPA is an additive for enhancing strength of plastic materials. It is, however, a toxic substance. Studies show that BPA gets gradually mixed along with the milk if the milk is left to stand for more than an hour inside the bottle. This substance is known to be a carcinogen or cancer-causing.

When shopping for baby monitors, it is essential that you look for a good, reliable brand. Make sure it doesn’t fall short of either design or features. Make sure to check the volume and frequency specifications. A good baby monitor should have a good sound pickup and a good range. Look for a baby monitor which has good reception. Your baby might be crying her heart out and all you hear from the other end is the sound of fizz because of poor reception.

Breastfed Babies Vs. Formula-Fed Babies

Motherhood is a daunting career which has no salary, requires most of your time and ultimate sacrifice, but because of you are raising a baby out of your own flesh, it is one which has the most capability to warm the heart every single day.  When the baby grows up, they might leave home, but your responsibility stays with them wherever they go.  Although not quite true for some, this is the exact essence of motherhood.  Being a mother gives you the responsibility to love and care for your child, and when the situation calls for it, to provide admonition.

Being a mother does not only require you to only love and care, but also to temper it with reproaches when needed.  A mother and child’s relationship is sacred and you, as a mother, should feel humbled, being seen fit by God Himself to have entrusted you with the rearing of a child.  This is why you have to be the best mother that you can possibly be.  Learning new things and working out previous mistakes so you will have something good to pass on to your child are the keys to success in motherhood.

A mother’s physical condition after giving birth was designed by God specifically to provide natural method of giving nutrition to her offspring.  Breastmilk is the purest, most natural, and one with the most complete nutritional value you can give to your baby.  No other milk, no matter how expensive, can surpass or even equal the nutritional benefits that can be found in breastmilk.  Years of extensive research have proven that breastfed babies are less likely to have colic.

Breastfed babies also develop a mutual emotional bond with their mothers.  They are also less likely to get sick and grow up more intelligent than formula-fed babies.  This is because the immunity of the mother against certain sickness is passed on to her breastmilk which is then eventually passed on to her baby.  Breastfed babies also sleep well and do not fuss as often.

Always keep your baby safe.  Keep your baby’s things free from tiny parts which they could choke on.  When shopping in a baby depot for baby carriers, look at the fabric used.  Are the stitching free from lose threads to which you baby’s fingers might be caught in?  Always foresee danger so you can avoid it.  It is okay to be a safety worrier if you are a mother.

Finding The Right Baby Monitor

You might remember the time when the most complex thing a baby monitor could do was pick up on the conversations your neighbors were having on their cordless phones. These days, baby monitors are far more advanced than the original models which just relayed sounds. And even more advanced monitoring is done with video. Deciding on which monitoring system is right for you and your family can be difficult and confusing, because there are so many choices! With the technology advances we enjoy these days, you don’t have to worry about a monitor which will keep you awake all night, with feedback squeals and static sounds. Now while it may seem like an information overload right now, here are some things you should definitely consider when you are choosing your next baby monitoring system. You might also want to read this information on child bedwetting.

Now for a lot of families, the price is naturally going to be an issue in making your decision. But you should consider that the price is actually a small factor when it comes to your final decision, and should not be your only criteria. The best thing to do, is to look at how many features you actually get for the price, as the cheapest one may also not be the most valuable for your baby, likewise the most expensive system may not give you the most value for your money either. Also, if you just choose a baby monitor based on how low the price is, you may find that you will end up having to return it anyways, because it will malfunction, and you don’t want to be taking that risk when it comes to your baby. Instead, look at what you get and for what price you get it, and lots of features could make up for a higher price! Do your research. Look for ratings in publications like Consumer Reports and find which brands they recommend. These publications can give you comparisons on the different baby monitors and help you to make an educated decision. You can learn which brands are over-marketed, which ones are the best performing, which ones have the best prices for their performance, etc. This is the best way to sort out which brands give you the best value and which have a poor performance record. In publications and sites like these you can at least be confident that you’re getting independent reviews. If you read reviews about a product, you want to know about any negative ones as well as positive; you won’t get these if you only visit company websites. By the way, you might also find this info on how to stop bedwetting to be useful.

What kind of battery life do you need? The battery life is one of the most important features of this kind of system, and you need to carefully consider the battery life so that the system is in fact always working. There are monitoring systems which have the rechargeable battery option equipped with a charging station, and there are systems which allow you to plug the receiver into an outlet overnight for backup protection, but once again, it all depends on the type of battery life you want. In the end, you need to narrow down your choices so that you can choose a baby monitor which will work effectively in your home and one which will also monitor your baby effectively. Considering things like the shape, size, and cost of the monitor should all be an important factor in your final decision. It’s best to be informed before you purchase your baby monitor, so take your time to assess what you actually want and how you want the monitor to deliver those features. Finally, be sure to check out this info on bed wetting teens.
