All In One Reusable Cloth Nappies Against Modern Pocket Washable Cloth Nappies

Different types of cloth nappies are available now in the market, AIO or All in One and the modern pocket cloth nappies are among the commonly used nappies.  The two have several distinctions, you may not be pleased by the AIO but modern nappies may be suitable to your baby’s needs.

Understanding All in One Cloth Nappies

AIO or all in one cloth nappies are just like disposable or commercial nappies. The nappy is made with a layer of absorbent material, generally microfiber, cotton, or bamboo, in between a layer of fleece or suede cloth and an outer layer of FOE or PUL. Fabrics can change, however, the outer covering is constantly made with a water resistant material, while the fabric inside must keep your baby dry for a long time.

What is a Pocket Nappy?

Pocket cloth nappies are modern type of nappies which can be adjusted to your baby’s needs.  Pocket nappies come with two inserts, one large and one small.  These insets are used according to the size of the baby, small inset is for newborns although both are good for overnight use.  You can also customize your nappy by stuffing the pocket with a prefold nappy or a hemp insert, which may be more absorbent than cotton.

Which is Better?

Actually, only you can identify which nappy is better than the other.  Modern pocket cloth nappies are best if you want to customize it according to the size of your baby, whereas AIO nappies offer ease and convenience.  Many moms purchase AIO nappies just for babysitters and daddies to use while they are away for the day, but find that pocket nappies are best for overnights.

One advantage to pocket nappies is that when you use only one insert, you have a trimmer nappy that fits under clothes easily.  Another is that pocket nappies take less time to dry, since the inserts come out of the outer shell of the nappy in the wash. All in one nappies, on the other hand, do not have detachable inserts so they take some time to dry up.

Selecting the Right Nappy

Before you decide on which type of nappy to use for your baby, it is advisable to buy few pieces of each and try them on your baby to see which works better. If you line dry, then you may find that AIO’s are simpler to hang, while pocket nappies dry in less time. Both nappies have the advantage of being simple to use and easy to take on and off of baby. you can buy all in one nappies that have either snaps or aplix – this is similar to Velcro.

When you buy modern types of nappies, make sure that there are laundry tags to avoid damaging the nappies when you wash them. Regardless of which type of cloth nappy you choose for your baby, you are confident that you give the environment and your little one the best and the safest choice.
